We strongly discourage any attempt to attempt to install Pet Doors into Glass due to the dangers involved with broken glass (e.g. cutting toughened safety glass may result in the glass exploding, and lead to various injuries to eyes and body, while regular float glass is extremely sharp and dangerous when cut). We recommend only qualified installers for these types of Pet Doors
For the installation of Pet Doors into Walls (of any type), it is essential that a qualified building professional be contracted to assist with installation. This is due to the fact that Walls may contain wiring and electrical points, which could be extremely hazardous to the layman. In addition certain walls are structural, and making a hole in the wall could potentially weaken the structure of the wall. A qualified building professional will also be able to advise as to what council regulations may apply in making a hole in a wall in order to insert a Cat Flap or Dog Door.
In certain thick walls, some form of plastering / wooden sheeting will need to be applied / inserted to ensure a continuous tunnel for the pet to climb through. If a continuous tunnel is not completed, it is possible that the pet could be injured or get stuck in the tunnel.
Care must be taken with all tools to avoid potential injury. If in doubt, contact us regarding our installation service, or if outside our service area, for advice on how to arrange for installation of your pet door.
